Damp Home Day

October 10, 2007

I work at home one day per week. Formerly this was Fridays, but I moved it to Wednesdays because of our viticulture class. There are some things I like about being here:

  1.  It’s raining. I can see it coming down from my perch here in my library, with the city in the background. Then it will stop raining, seem hopeful for a few minutes, and rain again.
  2.  Often on days I work from home I use my lunch time to go for a constitutional. Running, walking, something. I like jogging past Sunnyside Environmental School, which is about a mile away. Sunnyside is a very cheerful-looking classic brick 2-story elementary school that has recently switched to an environmental focus. Consequently it is flanked by gardens and structures very clearly built by children. Last time I jogged by, the door to the cafeteria was propped open and the squall of the children was like static, reassuring.
  3. I can make tea. Sometimes more than once.

It’s a good life. I haven’t really mentioned it, but I’ve been so busy lately (with things that are just coming to fruition…soon now…soon) that I haven’t been able to sit and get all gestalt about stuff.
