I read the local blogs! I read blogs about movies! I read blogs in which a substantial portion of their commentary is specifically about David Lynch. How, then, could I possibly have missed that his new film, Inland Empire was playing all week at local indy theater Cinema 21? And that tonight is the last night?
This sucks. I had planned on going to a (wait for it…it’s snobby) Bordeaux tasting this evening at Liner & Elsen (wine shop). I’m oddly tired today and even the tasting sounds like a lot of slogging and bussing. But trying to squeeze in a movie at chronically-overcrowded, creaky and visibility-challenged (why did it take until the 90s to invent stadium seating?!) Cinema 21…that just sounds like too much.
But miss Inland Empire? Has anyone seen it? Does anyone know if other (preferably local!) theaters are picking it up? Yarg.
I haven’t seen it, but William is supposedly in it. Well, he appears in frame in one scene. They cut his lines. But he’s visible!!
I highly suspect it will make its way to other local indie theaters soon…

it’s playing at the Hollywood Theatre @ NE 41st and Sandy.

I have heard it’s not great, and not at all traditional in whatever semblance of a narrative it might have.
But I know you’ll go, anyway. Hey, at least Moby liked it.
Haven’t noticed it playing down here yet, but Pan’s Labyrinth is really cool.
Moby liked it? Fuuuck.
