I’m snotty about a lot of things but I’ve never condescended to wine in a box–because I think it’s a great idea. The wine world is funny in how slow it concedes to technology, in general.
According to WineBusiness.com, 3-liter boxes are the “Fastest-Growing Wine Package Segment” with a 204 percent growth since this time in 2003.
Not only that, but the most growth is seen in 3-liter boxes that cost more than $16, with the really cheap crap remaining relatively flat.
Another thing that knocks my socks off: I may have mentioned the Cuvee de Pena box David and I scored a month or two ago at New Seasons–it’s probably the best box wine I’ve ever had. Well, turns out, according to Dr. Vino’s Wine Blog, it costs $89 if you order it at Avec in Chicago! Wow!
