From Portland Maps, a miraculous site run by the city:
Here are photos of my house from the air in 2000, 2004 and 2005 (not much changed between 2000 and 2004).
In 2000 (first photo), my house actually took up what is now two lots, and it looked like there was some gardening going on. There were a few trees in the yard (“above” the house, which is north) and there was a covered patio coming off the side of the front porch.
In 2004, I was living there. They split the lot when they sold me my house, and you can see in the second photo the big diggers making a big hole for our next door neighbors’ house to go in. Vroom! Notice that there isn’t really a “yard” at this point on my house–just a big ol’ patch of weeds. You can also tell the house got a new roof, and the patio is gone from next to the porch.
And the 2005 photo really starts to show how much has happened since then. You can see the fence we built, the greenhouse David built, the birch tree we planted (if you know how to look for it) and some sundry other things, our then-new lawn, our next-door house. I’m looking forward to the 2006 photo!
How’s the gaybors?
