Uplifting Things

October 30, 2007

Sitting here after work, having made vegetarian chili for the members of my book club, who should be arriving in an hour or so. Tired; not feeling particularly great.
This has been a struggle week, with my status as “sickest healthy person ever” re-confirmed. I’m stressed out about this; I’m having a medical issue that involves bleeding and digesting and it’s not the place I want to be. It involved a trip to the ER. I see a specialist next week for “imaging.” That’s where I’m going to leave it right now because it’s a) probably nothing in the end, and b) I don’t like to think about it.

So here are some happy things!

  • I have a husband who’s not only a great guy, but a great cook: flexible, clever and subtle. I’m lucky.
  • I’m starting a new company with three other fabulous people. Our first day of business is Thursday. Really. Yeah, it’s a big deal, but I haven’t really been able to talk about it just yet. My last day at Kavi is tomorrow.
  • It’s my stepmother Christie’s birthday today. Tomorrow is Autumn’s birthday. Yesterday was John Keith’s (he’s one of my new company’s co-founders). Birthdays rule.
  • I got to go to Bend (central Ore.) this weekend. It smells good there. I got to see David Sedaris, who is a funny, small man. I got to sit around in a Turkish-style soaking pool.
  • The pets are sleeping. It’s adorable except for the snoring (that’s the dog). The cat seems to have so many different paws.
  • I saw a hummingbird in the yard. We don’t really have hummingbirds here.
  • David put Linux on his phone. He can telnet to it. There is rejoicing.
